Associate Professor Jarrett Blaustein is Director of Education at the School of Regulation and Global Governance at The Australian National University. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he is an award-winning educator recognised for innovation in teaching and sustained excellence in student outcomes. Jarrett has led the strategic redevelopment of RegNet’s postgraduate programs, strengthening enrolments, building HDR pathways, and fostering a more collaborative and engaged education culture. His leadership is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and accountability, and emphasises relationality as the foundation for effective academic governance through open dialogue, shared purpose, and mutual respect. He is committed to consultative and transparent decision making that rebuilds trust and empowers academic staff. He advocates for an institutional culture that values and rewards collegiality, collaboration, and meaningful service. In a competitive sector, he believes ANU must articulate a distinct and compelling identity that leverages its strengths as the national university to lead with integrity, intellectual ambition, and public purpose. Through Academic Board, he seeks to support adaptive and principled leadership and position ANU as a sector leader in values driven reform.
