Biography
I am School Manager at the Fenner School of Environment & Society (CSS), where I lead professional operations across education, research and engagement. Prior to my current role, my background at ANU since 2011 has largely been in student administration, curriculum development and governance at the school level. I have held roles across the former College of Science, the College of Arts and Social Sciences, and the College of Systems and Society, where I will shortly undertake a period as Acting General Manager. In practice, this means I have spent my career at ANU working at the coalface - in the business units where teaching and learning happens. I have a strong interest in how policy, systems and structures shape the day-to-day experience of staff and students - and in ensuring these settings enable high-quality teaching, learning and engagement.
Candidate pitch
I am nominating because Academic Board plays a critical role in maintaining academic standards and providing an informed, representative voice into university decision-making. I would bring a cross-university perspective grounded in operational experience, with a focus on how decisions translate into practice. In a period of significant institutional change, I am particularly interested in ensuring that academic quality, academic freedom and the lived realities of our students and the academic staff who teach and engage with them remain central - particularly in the context of hands-on, place-based learning and work-integrated experiences that underpin meaningful student engagement. I would contribute through careful engagement with Board materials, constructive questioning, and a clear focus on representing issues in a way that is practical, balanced and grounded in the realities of academic work.
